Stormy Sky Afghan Pattern

Stormy Sky Afghan

Base pattern for this afghan is the “Vintage Rippling Blocks” by Angela Maria.  I followed the base for the first and last 32 rows.  The center 64 rows the 3 dc block was modified to a shell (dc, ch 1, dc) block.

As one would expect the yarn used for the shell rows is slightly lower (about 28 yards) as compared to the solid block (about 36 yards), however the tradeoff is the shell block row height is slightly shorter laying on its side at about ¼ inch than the solid block row height laying on its side of about ½ inch. Standing up both measure about ½ inch. Using the shell block means you’ll need more rows to get your desired height, but 1 cake made about the same amount of inches regardless of the stitch configuration.

A feature I like about using the shell block is that it allows more air flow through the afghan while still keeping the user warm.

The pattern contains some afghan planning information, as is normal, all relevant to your crocheting gauge but still an indicator for your information.

Enjoy and Happy Crocheting.

Afghan Update!

Beginning of edging, took 3 tries to get something I liked good enough to leave. First round, extended single crochet across top is esc, ch1, esc, ch1, esc in 3ch peak, 2 esc in each 3 ch of other blocks, maintained valley sl st. Will do esc clear around for round 1. Because of limited quantity of white and blues sides will be gray for first round, final round to be determined. Folded blanket for picture.

Moving along with projects slow but sure. The last couple of days real slow going.
Had a "spell" the other evening, complete with ambulance and ER, they take a few days to completely get over them.  Blood pressure falls like a ton of bricks, and takes awhile (not real long) to get back up to a reasonable number.
Then a couple of days to recoup.
But on last row of the afghan, so have to get edging decided on for sure. Will test straight edge tomorrow maybe. Pineapple Shawl working on rough draft 2, this draft will start making repeats and writing repeat detail for first few rows Only.  Saving each under new names as I go, so have master, rough 1, and now working on rough 2...dont want to loose anything.

Happy Mother's Day to all.

Mom's Pineapple Shawl

Think I got a hint from Mom when I talked to her the other day.  She wanted to know if I had written down the pattern (I had but it is something I can follow) and if I had made 1 to sell, saying it fit really well and stayed on her shoulders while playing bridge.  Mom would not come right out and ask for another, but asking if I had one available for sale is highly unusual.  So thinking about another shawl with similar measurements for her, won't remake the Pineapple that I have given her and getting pattern written for others to use.  But there are a lot of stitch patterns that I can use and get the same result.  Need the yarn first, will look while in town tomorrow to do some shopping.  Want #3 so...

The Pineapple pattern is moving right along, finally have a format that is working so not loosing track of stitches and pineapples.  On row 29 now, will be able to do a couple more in the morning before going to town. Then, should have time over the rest of the week to work on it.

Seven rows on afghan and then edging so it should be done by next weekend.  Only do 2 or 2.5 rows a day so don't have mistakes and have to rip out.

Flying Shingles

Flying Shingles
Been working on pineapple shawl pattern, written part coming right along on row 16, but from now on lots of copy and paste with small adjustments for sequence is about all. Spent some time getting pictures where I wanted them for the first 12 rows.
If you see shingles flying around, it is me spitting them😵!! Pictures moving after I close the doc and reopen. Looking for different advise on internet before going back to that. Word is not user friendly in this matter as far as I’m concerned!
I don’t recall having this much trouble when adding pics at work, but maybe I did.
Don’t really want to use textboxes. If anyone knows a trick please let me know. Thanking you in advance!
